I was a little disappointed in my Google search for the best hotel in Marrakech with a pool to see that Le Naoura did not feature. However, perhaps that is not such a bad thing. Less popular can also mean less busy, and I am sure you will not be disappointed in Le Naoura. Anyway the best hotel in Marrakech is very much a subjective choice. My best may well not be your best. So let me tell you very quickly what features in Le Naoura I think makes it an excellent choice for someone wanting to try an authentic Marrakech experience while still enjoying those little luxuries that can make a holiday so memorable.

Good location. Helpful staff. Large room sizes.

Perfect Location

Le Naoura is well situated being close to the Medina. Marrakech is a relatively small city, so most places are within comfortable walking distance of pretty much wherever you are based. Le Jardin Majorelle and the Yves St Laurent Museum are a little further away, but just about in walking distance, or of course you can take a taxi or horse drawn carriage.

The Medina is where all the action is, so you are well placed at Le Naoura. An alternative would be just outside Marrakech in the Palmerie district, which is quieter and with more space. Most of the hotels there will offer a shuttle into the city or it is a short taxi ride. As a matter of personal preference, I like to be in the city. The Fairmont is a great choice if you want to be in the Palmerie district. https://inspirationtravel.co.uk/royal-palm-hotel-marrakech/

The hotel describes itself as a lovely oasis between palm groves and the Medina. The first image you see when you visit the website is of a large, impressive pool with the hotel built around it. I was concerned that noise from the pool would be distraction in the rooms, but this is not the case. The hotel has excellent facilities for families with children (of which, more later) but again the hotel does remain peaceful and calm.

Helpful Staff

I always think that the sign of good staff is that you do not really notice them. The  idea of a butler horrifies me. You can book a private butler if you have a suite or one of the private riads, but other than that service, you will only really notice the staff when you need them. And then they will be very helpful and very friendly. The friendliness is something that is commented upon a lot in many of the online reviews.

These rooms are so spacious

The rooms give you plenty of space in which to spread out. The lowest category of room, the Superior offers you just under 46 sq m of room, with a large and well equipped bathroom. You have a king sized and comfortable bed, a good amount of cupboard space. One feature I particularly appreciated as a travelling copywriter is the generous amount of workspace in the room.

Inspiration Travel recommends Le Naoura

The Deluxe rooms are on the floor above, and are the same size, but with a balcony instead of a terrace. You can imagine yourself sitting there in the evening with a drink or some mint tea watching the sun set.

The sense of spaciousness is enhanced by the colour scheme, white and pale brown with a dark brown accent colour and wooden floors. The Superior rooms are all based on the ground floor with a terrace outside. This means that families with older children could take adjoining rooms and connect via the terrace outside. Those with younger children will want to either take a suite or a riad.

The hotel also provides huge suites which work well for families who want to stay in one room.

All the rooms are well appointed with irons, hair dryers and all of the bits and pieces that you would expect.

Riads, Perfect for Families

As an alternative to a hotel room, you could opt for one of the Riads. A 3 bedroomed riad has ensuite bathrooms with each room, 2 lounges, one of which is European in style with an open fireplace. A kitchen and private pool make up the facilities. The hotel also has four and 6 bedroomed riads, which gives some interesting options for large family groups or groups of friends.

The range of accommodation, catering for solo travellers, couples, families, extended families and even business groups is one of the reasons that I consider Le Naoura to be one of the best hotels in Marrakech, at least certainly in the centre of the city

Gourmet Food to Savour

La Barriere is a French chain so it is hardly a surprise that the food is very good, a blend of French and Moroccan. There are two restaurants, Fouquets, which is perhaps a little more formal and Le Wardya, which is based around the pool. Both restaurants require slightly more formal wear in the evening. Remember Morocco is a Muslim Country, very relaxed but one still needs to respect the customs. On that note, we should bear in mind that many of the restaurants in Marrakech will not serve alcohol. Le Naoura does serve alcohol, but we should consume it in moderation. It is quite expensive, so drinking in moderation will not be too much of a hardship.

The hotel also has a lovely bar, the Nuphar, which provides cocktails, Sahari wines and mint tea, accompanied by Moroccan tapas.

Hotel Facilities You Will Enjoy

There is is great deal to do in Marrakech [https://inspirationtravel.co.uk/holidays/marrakech/] but the hotel is not short of options while you are there.

The Pool Is So Inviting

The pool is the central feature of the hotel with the rooms arranged around it. In a way, this reflects the construction of the traditional riad, where the rooms feature windows looking onto an internal courtyard in much the same way that an ancient Roman villa would be set up.

The pool is heated to a minimum 27 deg. This might seem unnecessary, but it is important to remember that Morocco can get quite chilly in the winter months, especially at night. There are plenty of loungers around the pool, so you can sit there with a cocktail and just relax.

Work Up a Sweat in the Gym

The hotel gym is adequate but perhaps suffers from comparison with some of the other features of the hotel, which are excellent. There are exercise machines and benches, but it is important to note that this is a hotel gym and not a gym per se. You can, however, book a session with one of the coaches so you can make the best of the available equipment.

Relax in the Spa

Morocco is of course a well known Wellness destination and in particular for its Hammam experience. The Spa Diane Barriere offers a range of treatments and beauty rituals and toning treatments. There are 7 massage rooms, a steam room, a scrub room, a swimming pool and experts on hand to advise you on various aspects of wellness.

The Spa also provides for kids where they can discover a Hammam treatment and Moroccan baths, gentle massages and finish off with some nail art.

Even More for Your Kids

Apart from a child orientated spa experience, the Hotel also provides a Kids Club for children aged between 4 to 12, the Diwi & Co club. The club provides play equipment, and also lessons to help them explore the culture and history of Morocco including Arabic calligraphy .and cookery lessons. There are also swimming lessons available from trained coaches at the pool area. Baby sitting can be arranged, so parents with young children can have a really relaxing break, while being confident that their children are being looked after carefully.

Who is Le Naoura For

As I said at the beginning of this post, I was a little surprised that Le Naoura did not feature as high as I had expected in my Google Search for the best hotel in Marrakech. Perhaps that is because a search in England does not favour a French chain, or perhaps it is just an indication of the standard of accommodation available in Marrakech.

Le Naoura is a favourite of Inspiration Travel

A useful sign is the number of “packages” that Le Naoura offers, from a Romantic Break to a Wellness Break. There is a golf break, with golf being provided away from the hotel on a number of courses, overlooked by the Atlas Mountains. You could opt for the Gourmet Break or the Relaxing Break. Families are well catered for with plenty of activities and a very good Kids Club.

I like the option of either hotel or Riad, giving you the best of both worlds. The Riads are a great choice for larger groups, and are often used for business meetings and incentives as well as families.

Best Hotel in Marrakech?

There is one drawback for me as a travel agent with Inspiration Travel, and that is on pricing. The hotel offers discounts if you book direct with the hotel, which does make it difficult for us to recommend it. However, as with all travel agency business, if you are looking for service and value as well as price, there are often reasons to pay a little more and to book through an agent. In particular, the ability to book a package, including flights, and other activities while you are there, such as hot air balloons, go karting, 4 x 4 rides through the Sahara Desert or trips into the Atlas Mountains. And the good personal relationships we have with hotel managers means that you will be treated as a valued guest and not just another number.

Morocco is one of my favourite destinations. I can help you plan the perfect break, ideally suited to your needs and booked with the benefit of ABTA protection through my Travel Agency Anthony Kingsley @ Not Just Travel.
